The Vanier College Language School welcomed its first group of international students - a group from Yokohama and Tokyo in Japan. The program was initiated by Teiko Takamatsu of Japan and Richard Lock of the Vanier College English Department. An Opening Ceremony was held on May 13, 2002 where the group was officially welcomed by Vanier's Director General, Mr. Michael Macchiagodena. Welcome folders were presented to all the students by Vanier's Academic Dean, Mr. Peter Ross. In the mornings, the students are developing their English language skills and in the afternoon, they are practicing their English while engaged in sightseeing activities. The volunteers of The Learning Centre have become involved in the program by pairing up with the Japanese students and helping them improve their skills. We hope to welcome more Japanese students in the future. We invite you now to view some photos taken on that day.
