HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL MUSEUM VISIT 2000

A uniquely focused trip to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC, pushed out the classroom walls for twelve Vanier students and seven adults who left November 22, 2000 and enjoyed a tour of all the sights and sounds around the capitol for American Thanksgiving.

Keeping diaries and writing poetry, the group organized by Marcia Goldberg and other members of the Jewish Studies faculty was generously supported by the friends of Vanier College through the Vanier College Foundation. Students included members of Ray Shankman's course on the literature of the Holocaust, Neil Caplan's course, Lessons of the Holocaust and Martha Bernstein's course, Perspectives on Revolution.

We will hear writing from and listen to speakers from this group of travellers at this years' annual Holocaust Symposium at Vanier occurs the week of April 2-6, 2001. For more information about the plans being made to enhance the activities this year, contact Neil Caplan (744-7152), Marcia Goldberg (744-7582), Renee Karp (744-7819) or Gad Abikhzer or Lennie Friedman at the Vanier Hillel Office. Here's a selection of photos taken on the trip by Vanier student David Studenberg.
