Vanier College S.M.O.R.E.S. presents

NITE OF NATIONS '99
"MOVING FORWARD"

On Friday, May 7th, 1999, The Vanier College S.M.O.R.E.S. group (Student's Multicultural Organization Reaching Every Soul) presented its third annual multicultural extravaganza. The Vanier College Auditorium was filled with the sights and sounds of music, dancing, poetry and laughter. As in the past, acts from around the world were featured, such as Belly Dancing, Gospel music, Riverdance-style Irish dancing, poetry, a Chinese Lion Dance and many, many others. More new and exciting dancers, singers and actors augmented returning performers.

Formed in September 1996 by Henny Feldman of Project Listen at Vanier College, S.M.O.R.E.S. has evolved into a dynamic student group whose ultimate goal is to promote cultural awareness and reverence among the community at large. This is a unique group which focuses on the positive aspects of the diversity in today's society. The students represent different ethnic groups who respect each other and are ambassadors and role models throughout the college.

The proceeds of last year's Nite of Nations made it possible for S.M.O.R.E.S. to donate $1200.00 to Montreal City Mission, which runs refugee and community economic development programs, and to sponsor a little boy called Clement, in Ghana. The profits of this year's presentation will also be donated to a charitable cause.
