SOCIAL SCIENCE AND COMMERCE
WELCOME AND INFORMATION SESSION, 1999

More than two hundred new Social Science and Commerce students, together with some parents and friends, attended a "Welcome and Information Session" held for them on April 11. Following a jazz performance given by some of our music students, the Director General, Michael Macchiagodena, the Faculty Dean, Heather Lewis, an Academic Advisor, Debby Resnick, a representative of the VCSA, and current Vanier students addressed the new students in the Auditorium. Tours followed to the Information Technology Centre, the Learning Centre and a workshop on Financial Aid, given in the Library by Richard West. The final stop was our new Student Mall where faculty members from Social Science, Commerce and the English Department greeted the students and displayed materials. The table for our new Social Sciences Major was particularly popular! Also much appreciated were the tables staffed by Counsellors and Academic Advisors.

Thank you to all who came and all who helped make the day a success. We now invite you to view some excellent photos of the event taken by Vanier Communications student Liam Chapman.
