TLC BOOK LAUNCH '99

The Learning Centre recently held a book launch for Voices from Around the World: Stories of Vanier Students 1998, its latest book of student writing. Published with a grant from the Ministerè de L'Éducation, Governement du Quebec, the book contains over eighty stories written by Vanier students. These students had been part of the summer intensive English program offered by Vanier's English Department.

The purpose of the book was twofold: to provide a vehicle to welcome and integrate students from diverse cultural background and cultures into the Vanier community and to help students to improve their writing skills. Working closely with their teachers Ann Boyle, Kevin Bushell, and Ron Curtis, as well as The Learning Centre, students polished their stories about their memories of their homelands and their experiences in Quebec, Canada. Congratulations to our student authors who did a wonderful job .

The following students read at the book launch: Galina Chevets, Hao Hu, Fawn Iserhoff, Ajfan Adib Nakhala, Xuan Lui Ngo, Natalya Pan, Sasikumar Shanmugalingam, and Afroza Sultana.
