VANIER COLLEGE CELEBRATES GRADUATION '98

barmarbl.jpg (3228 bytes)

Vanier College held it's annual Graduation Ceremony at Place Des Arts on June 17, 1998. Among the highlights of this year's proceedings was a stirring address by keynote speaker and Vanier College Alumna Susan Armstrong. Ms. Armstrong spoke eloquently both about her experiences here at Vanier, as well as of her present duties as Executive Director of the Missing Children's Network. Another highlight was the Valedictory Address given by Martino Mario Freda of Pure And Applied Science. Martino was a multiple award winner, garnering The Governor General's Award for the highest average in the college, as well as The Vanier College Foundation Scholarship and, of course, the Program Award for Pure And Applied Science. Last, but not least, was the presentation of the Vanier College Teaching Excellence Award to a supremely dedicated Physics teacher, the ever-popular Mike Cowan.

The Vanier College Stage Band, under the direction of Jocelyn Couture, delivered their usual professional-calibre performance to enliven the occasion. Vocalist Anit Ghosh sang "O Canada" as well as "From A Distance". Director General Michael Macchiagodena delivered the Opening and Closing Addresses, and William Hodges, Chairperson of Vanier's Board Of Directors addressed the graduates as well.

Following, is a list of the major Academic and Student Life Award Winners.  After this list, we invite you to peruse some photos that were taken that night. Due to the large number of photos presented here, please allow a few minutes for them to fully download. Depending on the speed of your modem.
