This year we ended our term with a bang - we held our 1st Annual Juried Exhibition in May in our new Art Resource Centre. We displayed the best works from our drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking classes. We hung artwork from floor to ceiling in the style of the Parisian salons. Two hundred staff and students came to the opening and enjoyed the art, met the the artists and had a great time! If all this sounds exciting to you, we hope to see you next term!
Our Fine Arts classes are made up of an equal number of concentration and complementary students. We welcome more experienced art students because we can provide them with an intensive studio atmosphere, professional models, and individual instruction. Such students become a resource for students just starting out. Many of our students come to us with no background at all in art. We welcome these beginning students because our aim as a Fine Arts faculty has always been to integrate creativity into all aspects of everyday life. We do this by introducing students to the world of art and teaching them the fundamentals of artmaking. Once they gain confidence in their natural ability to draw, paint or sculpt, they see that making art is an approach to problem-solving that they can apply to many other areas.
We now invite you to have a look at a few photos that were taken at our last exhibition.
