THE LEARNING CENTRE PRESENTS:
Bridge Building Contest A-03

The Learning Centre’s annual Bridge Building Contest was a great success. With twenty-four bridges competing, and an enthusiastic audience present, there was much excitement and activity. Read on for the full story. As well, view a video clip taken at the contest to see the bridges crack under the weight!

Alexander Kharlamov (above) walked away with 1st place for efficiency, as well as the prizes for the bridge holding the greatest load, and for craftsmanship and aesthetics. Yip Pieng Lam won 2nd place for efficiency, and Andrew J. Latkowski, Tisha Haynes and Kevin Kok placed third for efficiency. Thanks to our host for the event Mike Cowan, (3rd from the right with the microphone)
the proceedings unrolled smoothly with wave after wave of contestants coming forward.


This event is always a popular one with spectators holding their breaths as more and
more weight is suspended from each of the entries. Everyone waits for that tell-tale
"Cr-r-r-ack!" which indicates another entry is about to be reduced to splinters of pasta.
