"SHAVE TO SAVE" EVENT
FOR BREAST CANCER
The Shave to Save Committee, with the help of the VCSA and Student Services organized an event, in an effort to raise six thousand dollars towards breast cancer research. This event was entitled SHAVE TO SAVE. The four members (pictures below) raised just under $5000.
The main event took place on October 15th, at Universal Break in the Student Mall, 1st floor F Building during which the four members of the committee had their heads shaved by La Coupe, one of our sponsors. The festivities were broadcast live by radio station MIX 96 and we were graced with the presence of radio personalities Cat Spencer, Ken Connors and Dangerboy (not to mention hundreds of their supporters from Vanier). The week before the main event, (on October 8th) Vanier faculty members Ian MacArthur and Guy Quinn, as well as two students were also shaved at Vanier's "in-house" shaving.
We wish to thank you for helping us work towards a cure for breast cancer. Both women and men are affected by this disease. By participating in the Shave to Save event, we feel that we were able to raise awareness within the Vanier community.

On the day of the main shaving event, Mix 96 personalities Ken Conners, Cat Spencer and Dangerboy came to Vanier College to broadcast the event live. A hairdresser from La Coupe Downtown did the shaving.
Finally, special thanks go to our major sponsors: Women's Studies, the Faculty of General Studies and Science, the Faculty of Applied Technologies, the Vanier College Teacher's Association and the Vanier College Student's Association.
Let's do this again next year!
