WOMEN’S AND MEN’S DIVISION 1 BASKETBALL

Also on Friday evening, our Division 1 Women’s and Men’s Basketball played an away doubleheader at Montmorency in Laval that didn’t go so well. In the first game, the Lady Cheetahs dropped a 66-48 decision to the Nomades, while in the second game, the Div. 1 Men fared no better, losing 81-67. The Women’s record is now 0-2, and the Div.1 Men are now 1-1. They will next play in a home doubleheader on Friday, October 27th VS Champlain St-Lambert. Women start at 7:00 PM and Men start at 9:00 PM. Here is Coach Andy Hetzog’s Game report on Friday’s games:
.
On Friday night, our D1 teams went on the road to play Montmorency. Unfortunately, the results were not what we desired. In the first game, our women trailed throughout the game and ultimately lost 66-48. We trailed 33-21 at the half. We cut into the lead and made the score 36-30 to start the third period, but then the Nomades pulled away once again. Our leading scorers were Tatiana Toledo with 16 points and Meagan Charbonneau with 10.
In the second half of the doubleheader, our men got off to a poor start against the defending national champions, trailing 28-17 after the first quarter and 47-36 at halftime. We cut the deficit to only 2 points with just over 2 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter, but then a series of mistakes allowed our opponents to stretch their lead back to 9 and retake the momentum. We fell behind by 18 in the 4th quarter, but 3 consecutive 3’s by Quarry Whyne brought us back into the game and cut the deficit to 7. However, we could get no closer, and we eventually lost 81-67. We had 3 players score in double figures – Quarry Whyne had 13 points, Joshua Koulamallah had 12 and J.F. Daho had 11. Steeve Joseph added 9 points and 5 assists.

MEN’S DIVISION 1 SOCCER

In their last game of the regular season, our Division 1 Men’s Soccer Cheetahs played on the road at John Abbott on Friday evening and finished on a positive note, winning 2-1. Their final season record is 3 wins, 6 losses, and 1 tie, just missing a ticket to the playoffs. Congratulations to the entire team for their hard-fought season played in an extremely competitive league.

Our Men’s Division 2 Basketball opened their regular season with a game played at home VS Saint-Jean on Sunday afternoon and came out with a solid 90-74 win. Great start, gentlemen! The team will next play a road game on Friday, October 27th at 9:00 PM at Montmorency College in Laval and then will play a road game at Dawson on Sunday at 3:00 PM. Here’s Coach Andy Hertzog’s game report of Sunday’s game and the Division 1 exhibition game which preceded it:
 .
On Sunday, we hosted a doubleheader – our men’s D1 team played Elmira College, an NCAA D3 team, in an exhibition game, and our men’s D2 team kicked off their regular season by hosting Saint-Jean. Our men’s D1 team rebounded from their loss on Friday night and came out on fire, opening up a 23-5 advantage to start the game. We maintained the lead throughout the game, and won 86-68. All 13 of our players scored. Once again we had 3 players score in double figures led by Joshua Koulamallah with 16 points. WOMEN’S DIVISION 2 VOLLEYBALL

The Division 2 Women’s Volleyball Cheetahs competed in an all-day tournament at Marianopolis on Sunday, playing 5 opponents for 2 sets each. In the 1st set VS Rosemont, they lost 25-21, but rebounded to win the 2nd set 25-21. Similarly, in the next matchup VS Marie-Victorin, they lost the 1st set 25-19, but again came back to win the 2nd set 25-22. Then against L’Assomption, they won the 1st set 25-16, but lost the 2nd set 25-22. They next faced Champlain Saint-Lambert and lost the 1st set 25-17, but bounced back to win the 2nd set 25-23. In their final match VS Saint-Laurent, they unfortunately lost both sets 25-21 and 25-23. Still, for a new team playing in their first season of varsity competition, we think they’re doing great! Way ta go, ladies!
