Congratulations to Vanier wrestling alum Jordan Steen, (seen in the photo below at left) who won a Bronze Medal for Canada at the Commonwealth Games currently being held in Australia. On Friday, Jordie won his preliminary two matches but then lost in his semi-final match-up to Martin Erasmus of South Africa. However, he then went on to defeat Samuel Belkin of New Zealand to win a Bronze Medal for Canada in the 97 kg category.

Other Vanier wrestling alumni competing for Canada at the games were Vince De Marinaris and Alex Moore. On Friday, after winning his two initial matches in his 65 kg category, Vince De Marinaris lost in the semi-finals to Banjrang of India, and then also lost to Amas Daniel of Nigeria in the Bronze Medal match. Then, on Saturday morning, Alex Moore won his two first preliminary matches in the 86 kg category, but then he lost his semi-final match with Muhammad Inam of Pakistan and then his Bronze Medal match VS Somveer of India.
