Vanier Cheetahs Defensive
End Ameet Pall has had a season that could only be described as
inspirational.
After being named game MVP an innumerable number
of times during the regular season for his stellar play, Ameet's
first of many major accolades came when he established a new league
record for quarterback sacks. The record had stood for many years
before Ameet smashed it this season.
It was no certainly
surprise when he was picked for the league Defensive All Star
Team at season's end. He was credited for 2 more sacks in the
Cheetahs 14-0 win to take the Provincial Championship Bol d'Or
and was named Defensive Player of the Game.
On November 29th, Pall
was named Athlete of the Week by the Montreal Gazette and was
featured in an extensive article by Arpon Basu. Finally, to cap
it all off, he was named Defensive Game MVP for his contribution
to Team Canada's victory at this year's NFL Junior Global Championship
held February 3, 2007 in Florida.

The most promising
aspect of this entire story for those of us who count ourselves
as Vanier Cheetah supporters is that unlike many members of this
year's Bol d'Or winning Vanier Football Cheetahs who are not returning
due to their completion of CEGEP studies, our stalwart Ameet Pall
is due to return for what we hope will be another record-breaking
season starting in August 2007. Quarterbacks, beware!
A 19 year old native
of Pierrefonds, Pall admitted that at the start of this year's
regular season he was not even aware of the existence of the league
quarterback sack record that he was destined to break. "At
the beginning, I had no idea they even kept records like that,"
he said. He broke the long-standing record of 12 when he registered
his 13th during a win over Lennoxville on October 28th and then,
on the last game of the season on November 4th, added yet another
sack to raise his own record to 14.

With typical intensity, Ameet zeroes in on his target,
in this case, Beauce quarterback James Goulet.

Certainly, two highlights
of the year for Ameet have got to be his team's capture of the
Bol d'Or, symbol of provincial CEGEP football supremacy and
his selection at the championship game as the Defensive MVP.

Ameet Pall has had
a season that others can only dream of.
We, the fans of the
Vanier Football Cheetahs can only dream of what he will do for
the team next season. We look forward to whatever he will offer,
which always seems to be his best!
