PURR-FECT WEEKEND FOR VANIER CAGERS
FIRST PLACE DIVISION 1 HOOPSTERS IMPROVE TO 5-0

THE VANIER COLLEGE BASKETBALL TEAMS WENT 3-0 THIS PAST FRIDAY IN LEAGUE PLAY.

DIVISION 1 MEN'S BASKETBALL

In Men’s Division 1 basketball action, the Cheetahs ran their record to 5-0 with a convincing 89-73 triumph at John Abbott.

Chris Henny-Nyanguila netted 16 points for Vanier, held a 53-35 advantage at the half. Mikee Dosado and Ben Millaud-Meunier contributed 10 points apiece while Millaud-Meunier topped the victors with 7 rebounds.

The Cheetahs take to the court this coming Thursday, November 17th, when the play host to winless Edouard-Montpetit (0-3) in the second game of a double-header. The tip-off is slated for 9:00 p.m.

DIVISION 1 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Lady Cheetahs raised their early-season record to 4-2 with a hard-fought 77-66 road win over the John Abbott Lady Islanders in the twin-bill opener. The ladies trailed 19-14 after the first quarter and 36-34 at half-time before turning the tide in the second half.

The Lady Cheetahs featured a well-balanced offensive attack with 5 players hitting double figures in scoring led by Emily Prévost who recorded another double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Frédérique Potvin and Kenisha Luberisse tallied 13 points apiece while Catherine Couillard and Shabeka Taylor chipped in with 12 and 10 points respectively for the Lady Cheetahs.

The ladies will also play host to Edouard-Montpetit (3-3) on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. before travelling to Sherbrooke (2-5) on Sunday for a 1:00 p.m. contest.

DIVISION 2 MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Men’s Division 2 Cheetahs saw their record climb to 3-2 with a convincing 98-48 home rout of Lionel Groulx.

Kevin Alcalde paced the Cheetahs’ scoring parade with 16 points while Feras Saaida had 12 points and Neil Fergusson added 10 points in this lopsided win as twelve different Cheetahs made the score sheet.

The Cheetahs will visit Rosemont (1-2) this coming Friday at 9:00 p.m. before hosting cross-town rival Dawson Blues (3-2) on Sunday at the Vanier College Sports Complex. The tip-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
