FOOTBALL CHEETAHS DROP SEASON FINALE
WILL NOW FACE FIRST PLACE VIEUX-MONTREAL IN SEMI-FINAL

THE VANIER COLLEGE MEN’S FOOTBALL CHEETAHS DROPPED A 57-14 TO F.X. GARNEAU THIS PAST SATURDAY AT THE CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL FIELD. WITH THE LOSS, THE CHEETAHS COMPLETE THE REGULAR SEASON WITH A 5-5-0 RECORD AND WILL NOW FACE THEIR ARCH-RIVAL VIEUX-MONTREAL SPARTIATES (9-1-0) IN SEMI-FINAL ACTION THIS COMING SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH, AT 7:30 P.M. AT STADE CEPSUM.
DIVISION 1 MEN'S FOOTBALL
Trailing 3-0 midway through the first quarter, the Cheetahs grabbed their only lead of the day when Adam Bailey hauled in a 40-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Hugo Richard and Josh MacDuffie kicked the extra point.
Vanier was trailing 50-7 in the fourth quarter before Alvan Julien (seen at right) rushed 25 yards for their second touchdown of the game and MacDuffie chipped in with the convert.
Alvan Julien led the Cheetahs’ offense with 53 yards on 6 carries while Marley Patterson had 8 carries for 40 yards. Maiko Zepeda topped the defense with 6 tackles and Eric Gracioppo had 4.5 tackles in the loss.
On October 27th, the RSEQ announced that Vanier Football Cheetah Marley Patterson had been named the league's offensive Player of the Week. The 6'0" 215 lb native of Pickering scored two touchdowns including the winnning TD in Vanier's 34-30 victory over the Édouard-Montpetit Lynx on October 22nd. Patterson carried the ball 21 times for a total of 170 yards in the win.

DIVISION 1 MEN'S SOCCER
On the soccer pitch, the Men’s Cheetahs saw their season end with a 2-1 playoff doubling at the hands of Ahuntsic. Theodoras Tzikalagias was the lone Vanier goal scorer.
At the Soccer League Banquet held at the Provincials, Vanier won three awards. Theodoros Tzikalagias (right) was named to the All-Star team and was also picked as the league's Rookie of the Year.
Also, Leslie Aggrey-Fynn (seen at far right) won a league award for Academic Excellence.

WOMEN'S AND MEN'S RUGBY
The Rugby Cheetahs were swept by Dawson this past Sunday at Vanier College as the Lady Cheetahs (1-5) season ended with a 105-0 whitewash and the Men (3-3) were defeated 17-5. The Men’s Cheetahs will visit first place John Abbott (6-0-0) this Sunday in semi-final play. The game is at 1:00 PM at John Abbott College.

DIVISION 1 MEN'S BASKETBALL
In Men’s Division 1 basketball action, the Cheetahs improved to 2-0 on the season with an 80-65 road win over Ahuntsic this past Friday. Ben Millaud-Meunier, who this past week signed with the NCAA Division 1 Saint Francis University Red Flash in Loretto, Pennsylvania, commencing in 2012-13, led the Cheetahs with 17 points. Jhonny Verrone netted 13 points while Tevonn Walker picked up 12 points and Malcolm Henderson notched 12 points and 9 rebounds in the win.
The Cheetahs will play host to Montmorency (1-1) this coming Thursday, November 3rd, at 9:00 p.m. before travelling to cross-town rival Dawson (1-2) on Sunday for a 3:00 p.m. clash with the Blues.

DIVISION 1 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Lady Cheetahs also remained perfect with a lopsided 87-20 triumph over Nouvelles-Frontières in Gatineau last Friday.
Catherine Desbiens led the way with 13 points while Emily Prévost picked up 12 points and 5 rebounds and Kennisha Luberisse added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to the victory. Also putting forth strong efforts were Zineb Selham with 10 points and Shabeka Taylor with 7 points, 6 rebounds and 5 helpers.
The ladies will also play a pair of games this week as part of double-headers with the men’s squad. On Thursday, the Lady Cheetahs (3-0) will host Montmorency (3-1) at 7:00 p.m. and then will visit Dawson (3-0) on Sunday. The tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

DIVISION 2 MEN'S BASKETBALL
The Men’s Division 2 Cheetahs had a huge home win last Friday with a 53-50 decision over defending provincial champion Brébeuf. Jeffrey Duah paced the Cheetahs with 17 points while Chris Doumpa added 6 points in this exciting victory.
The Cheetahs were back in action on Sunday when they defeated Saint-Laurent 95-51 in exhibition play. Giorgo El-Nouwazi tallied 16 points while Jeffrey Duah and Jérémie Mbengo netted 12 points apiece and Tyree Barrett and Chris Milard each chalked up 10 points in the win.
Vanier will visit Ahuntsic (1-1) on Friday night. Game time is 9:00 p.m.
