AAA MEN

Our men's AAA team spent the past 5 days in the U.S., playing 3 games against some of the top teams in the northeast U.S. and conducting 1 practice.

In our first game, we lost to new Hampton Prep 93-77. We were down by 13 at the half, and trailed by 18 in the second half, but narrowed the gap to 8 with 3 minutes left. But, our hosts then hit a couple of clutch 3-point shots and we had to foul to try to get back in it. Our leading scorers were Lenny Austin (left) with 24 points, Ben Millaud (right) with 17 and Michael Fosu with 12.

Our second game was actually a scrimmage consisting of 4 separate quarters, as our hosts, the Community College of Rhode Island, were not permitted to add any games to their schedule. We lost the first 2 quarters but rebounded to win the next 2. Our leading scorers overall were Ben Millaud with 20 points, Lenny Austin with 14 and Malcolm Henderson with 12.

Our final game was at perennial powerhouse Northfield-Mount Hermon, who we play every year,. We had our best performance ever against them, losing a very close back-and-forth game 83-76. It should actually have been even closer but after Ben Millaud was fouled while making a 3-point shot with less than 30 seconds left, the referee ruled the play a traveling violation, which ended our chances. Ben had an outstanding game with 24 points. Michael Fosu had 11 points and Lenny Austin added 10 in the contest.

Our AAA teams now get ready to start the 2nd half of the regular season, hosting rival Dawson College this Friday night (January 14). The women's game is at 7:00 P.M. and the men's game follows at 9:00. Come out and support your Cheetahs!
