Dawson made another run and took a late 71-66 lead, but we rallied to lead again 75-73 with less than 20 seconds remaining. Dawson scored with 5 seconds left, and we took a timeout and got the ball at center court. We ran a sideline out of bounds play, but our second pass was intercepted and the game went into overtime. In O.T., Dawson led 84-80 with only a few seconds remaining, but we hit a 3 and then fouled. Dawson made one foul shot, and we trailed by 2 with the last possession. We got 2 shots off, but could not connect, and we finally lost 85-83 in a thrilling, well-played contest.

Our leading scorer was Lenny Austin (left) , who had his usual stellar game with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Ben Millaud (right) was our Player of the Game with 18 points, 3 assists and 2 steals. ALUMNI NEWS

Congratulations also go out to alums Anneth Him-Lazarenko and Kristin Portwine. Anneth, who now plays at McGill, ranked 2nd in the QSSF in both scoring (15/game) and rebounding (7.8/game), and was named to the league’s 1st all-star team. She is also the QSSF nominee for the Tracy McLeod Award, presented to the CIS women’s basketball player who best demonstrates determination, perseverance and unwavering spirit. Anneth had a terrific season after recovering from serious knee surgery. Kristin, who plays for Concordia, was named to the league’s second all-star team.

Thank you all for your support throughout the past season. We look forward to even better things next year, as both of our AAA teams return the majority of their players and have signed some exciting recruits.

Have a great week !
