Our AAA teams travelled to Ste Foy on Sunday. The Ladies started things off by facing the league leading (15-2) Dynamiques. In the first game, both teams got off to a slow start, and we were down 7-4 after the first quarter.

We fell behind 25-14 in the 2nd quarter, but narrowed the deficit to 28-21 at the half. Ste Foy got hot in the second half, and went on to win the game 69-47.

Our leading scorers were Mathilde Larochelle (left) and Natasha Raposo (right) with 12 points each.

AAA MEN

The second game was a see-saw affair. We led 20-17 after the first quarter and 38-36 at the half. We scored the first 6 points of the second half to take an 8-point lead, but Ste Foy came back, and we led by 4 going into the last period. Ste Foy took the lead at 68-67, but then we again ran off 6 straight points to take a 5-point advantage.

Ste Foy tied the game at 73 with a 3-point shot, but we came right back down court and Kareem Jackson hit a 3 for us, restoring a 3-point lead with less than a minute remaining. Ste Foy scored to cut the lead to a single point, but our big man Kazadi Nyanguila scored on a nice post move and we again took a 3-point lead with just over 20 seconds left.

We were able to steal the ball with 16 seconds left, and then Ste Foy, which had only committed 1 team foul to that point in the period, started fouling. They finally fouled us in a bonus situation with 9 seconds left, and we missed both foul shots.

Ste Foy had a last possession to tie the game, but they missed a contested 3-point shot, and we got the rebound to hang on for a 78-75 victory.

Lenny Austin (left) had another terrific game with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Kareem Jackson (right) had 17 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Seth Amoah had 10 points. Michael Fosu had 9 points and 9 rebounds. Thomas Pearson had 8 points and 3 blocked shots.
