AAA CHEETAHS BOTH WIN AT JOHN ABBOTT DOUBLEHEADER
AA MEN BEAT AHUNTSIC ON THURSDAY EVENING
November 30, 2009


Dear Alumni & Friends,

It was a very good week for our Vanier basketball teams, all of whom were victorious.

AA MEN'S BASKETBALL

Our men’s AA team got things rolling with a 86-63 home win against Ahuntsic. We led the game from start to finish, although we only had a 4-point advantage (37-33) at halftime.

We took control of the game in the 3rd quarter, opening up a 20-point advantage, and cruising to the 86-63 win.

Our leading scorer was once again Jerome Blake, with 26 points. Neil Ferguson had 9 points and Julien Quenneville and Patrick Elgee each chipped in with 8.

They play again on the road on Saturday against Nouvelles Frontières. The game starts at 3 PM.

On Friday night our AAA teams traveled to the West Island to take on the John Abbott Islanders, with similarly successful results.

AAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

In the first game, the lady Islanders kept the score close most of the first half, but our women exploded in the second half and won convincingly, 91-55.

Mathilde Larochelle (far left) had another terrific game with 26 points and 9 rebounds. Esther Pierre (left) had 12 points, Natasha Raposo had 11 points and Shelby Eveleigh and Andrea Baptista added 9 points each.

Our women travel to Quebec City to play Champlain St. Lawrence Friday night at 7 PM.

AAA MEN'S BASKETBALL

Our men’s team had a similar result, but got there in a much different way. We got off to a tremendous start – leading 28-2 at the start of the game, and 34-8 at the end of the first quarter.

The game was over almost before it started. We led 61-27 at the half, and cruised to a 96-69 victory.

Our leading scorers were Kareem Jackson with 19 points, Seth Amoah with 12, Lenny Austin with 11 and Jonathan Bermillo and Ben Millaud with 9 each.

Our men travel to Quebec City on Friday at 7:30 PM to take on Limoilou in their final league game of the first semester.
