Vanier's AAA Football Cheetahs won the Bol d'Or provincial championship for the second straight year on Saturday night in Trois-Rivières. After jumping out to a 21-7 lead, the Cheetahs held off a 4th quarter rally by the Vieux-Montréal Spartiates to hold on for the 21-14 victory. The win provided the perfect ending to a perfect year. The team went 8-0 during the regular season and were 2-0 in the playoffs.

As expected, quarterback Myles Gibbon (left) had another strong outing. He jump-started the offence in the first quarter with an electrifying 72-yard touchdown run. Later in the game, Myles also found his favourite target, receiver Duraney White, for two TD passes.

Gibbon's heroics earned him offensive player-of-the-game honours, but in a post-game interview Myles made it plain that this was a team effort all the way.

White's two touchdown receptions were from 26 yards and 32 yards respectively. With the Spartiates down by only seven points in the final quarter, it was white-knuckle time.

However, no one panicked as Samael Lavaud and Ameet Pall anchored the defence to hold the fort and seal this stirring championship repeat victory.

The Defensive player-of-the-game honours went to Ameet Pall (right) who also won the same award in last year's Bol d'Or victory.

Congratulations to Coach Peter Chryssomalis and the entire team for an amazing season.
