UPDATE |
Our AAA basketball teams hosted Montmorency last night and it was a very successful evening, with both teams emerging victorious. In a strange twist, both games mirrored each other almost exactly – the Cheetahs played extremely well and built up a huge lead, then coasted and let our opponents creep back into the game, although not close enough to threaten the victory.
In the first game, our women dominated the first half and took a 25-point lead into the break. They could not maintain the intensity in the 2nd half, however, and allowed Montmorency to come within 12 in the 4th quarter, before finally winning 72-56.
In the 2nd game, our men had a 21-point lead at the half and led by 26 after 3 quarters, before finally winning 74-64. The 10-point margin was the closest the Nomades ever came. Our leading scorer was Holando Meus, who had 17 points and 7 rebounds. Anaclet Mulumba Mbayi had 14 points and 16 rebounds. Point guard Hernst Laroche had 14 points, 8 assists and 3 steals. Mike Flannery had 11 points.
Our AAA teams are back in action next Friday, November 16 at Edouard-Montpetit – the women play at 7:00 and the men follow at 9:00.
