WINLESS WEEK FOR VANIER CAGERS
TWO STUDENTS NAMED TO TENNIS ALL-STAR TEAM

The Vanier College Basketball Cheetahs suffered through their own version of “Black Friday” with a trio of losses.

AA MEN'S BASKETBALL
The Men’s AA Cheetahs saw their record plummet to 5-4 with a 99-86 setback at Dawson in their final game of the fall semester. The game was close for the most part and the Cheetahs only trailed 42-38 at the half and 69-65 in the fourth quarter before the hosts went ahead and sealed the victory. Devon Forbes paced Vanier with 19 points while Presley Duah netted 18 points and Pierre Monuma and Suji Surenthiran contributed 12 points apiece in the loss.


AAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Women’s AAA Cheetahs traveled to John Abbott on Friday and were upset by a 77-69 score. The ladies led by a pair of points after the first quarter and then trailed by 7 points at halftime. It was a close second half but the ladies came up short as their record fell to 5-3. The Lady Cheetahs will play host to Trois-Rivières this coming Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

During this game, the Provincial Champion Vanier Cheetahs Football Team will be honored in a halftime ceremony where their championship banner will be raised to the rafters of the Vanier College Sports Complex.



AAA MEN'S BASKETBALL

In the nightcap, the Men’s AAA Cheetahs dropped an 88-79 decision to the first place John Abbott Islanders. The Cheetahs held a 43-41 advantage at the midway point of the contest but eventually succumbed to the undefeated Islanders. Vanier’s leading scorers were Mike Flannery with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Anaclet Mulumba with 16 points and 10 boards. Also reaching double figures in scoring were Ronald Vanel with 11 points to go along with 11 rebounds and Germaine Young with 15 points. The 3-3 Cheetahs round out their fall semester this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. when they play host to Champlain St. Lambert.


TENNIS TEAM REPORT

On the tennis courts, the Tennis Cheetahs lost their semi-final contest to Brebeuf this past Sunday, thus ending their season. Congratulations to Tomo Le and Vanessa Hulewicz who were named to the league all-star team as well as to Coaches Pierre Luc and Vahan Momdjian and to all the team members for competing in this inaugural season.
