BOL D'OR UPDATE
FOOTBALL CHEETAHS WIN 2006 BOL D'OR!
LIAM MAHONEY AND AMEET PALL NAMED PLAYERS OF THE GAME
November 20, 2006

The Vanier Football Cheetahs ended a 15 year drought by bringing home the Provincial Championship in an exciting game held in a packed Stade Diablos in Trois-Rivières on Friday night. The final score was 14-0.

TD catch put the Cheetahs ahead 13-0

Our defense was even stingier than usual, limiting the Cougars' offense to minimal momentum and zero points. By the time the Cheetahs' offense really started rolling in the second half, it was game over. Quarterback and offensive player of the game Liam Mahoney accounted for all of the Cheetahs' points which came in the 3rd quarter. He made one of his patented scrambles to run in the ball from the 10-yard line for the first TD, and then tossed a TD strike to Michael Alfonso which sealed the Cougars' fate.

Vanier's defensive line totally controlled the second half, led by Ameet Pall and Hassan Hazime. Driven by his QB sacks and nine tackles, Pall was named defensive player of the game.

Both teams seemed a little jittery in a first half dominated by penalties and turnovers.

Coach Chryssomalis
challenged the team

Coach Peter Chryssomalis said, "I thought Champlain played with more energy in the first half. At halftime, I challenged our guys to come out and play with more energy and they did."

Once the team found their drive, the result was a foregone conclusion. The championship was ours.
