CHEETAHS FALL TO SPARTIATES
VANIER’S VALIANT EFFORT IN BOL D’OR FINAL FALLS SHORT

November 22, 2005

The Vanier College Men’s AAA Football Team dropped a 21-10 decision to their arch-rival Vieux-Montréal Spartiates this past Friday in the Bol d’Or Championship game which was played at the Concordia University Football Field before 1,164 spectators in clear and cold conditions.

After a scoreless first quarter, the undefeated Spartiates jumped out to a 7-0 advantage in the second frame before the Cheetahs’ Louis Blais narrowed the gap to 7-3 with a 24-yard field goal at the 9:11 mark of the third quarter. Vieux-Montréal then extended their lead in the fourth quarter but quarterback Marco Brouillette then rounded out the scoring for Vanier at 13:33 on a one yard touchdown run. Blais followed with a convert but that was as close as the Cheetahs would come. Vanier’s Ian Mitchell-Dorcine was named the defensive player-of-the-game in the setback.
