Our AA mens team won a bronze medal at the Provincial championships this past weekend in Chicoutimi. I do not yet have all the details, but I will give you a brief summary from what I know.
In the first game, our guys lost to the eventual gold medal team, Limoilou, by a score of 97-96. Apparently, we were down by as much as 31 points in the first half, and trailed by 19 at halftime. We mounted a furious comeback, and actually took a 2-point lead with 30 seconds left. Limoilou then hit a 3 (their 17th of the game !) to re-take the lead. We were fouled with 1 second remaining, but missed both foul shots to lose the game. Limoilou went on to beat Brébeuf by 17 and Dawson by 13 to win the gold medal.
In our 2nd game, our guys had
an easy time of it, beating the host Chicoutimi team 90-70. In their 3rd
game, they beat league rival Montmorency 88-79, which put them into the
bronze medal game. In the bronze medal game, they beat Brébeuf
84-83 in a thrilling contest, with Saad Beg hitting a last second
shot for the win. Congratulations to Mark DAgostino of the AAA mens team, who scored 21 points and was named MVP of the CEGEP all-stars in the Qball all-star contest against the university all-stars. The university all-stars won the game 123-114.
Our CEGEP all-star games will be played at McGill University this Sunday, April 10. The womens game will be played at 2:00 and the mens game at 4:00.
