CHEETAHS HAVE A PERFECT WEEKEND
VANIER CAGERS LOOKING GOOD AS PLAYOFFS APPROACH

The Vanier College Women's and Men's teams swept a double-header this past Friday at John Abbott College while the Men's AA Cheetahs posted a home victory over Outaouais.

At John Abbott College, the Lady Cheetahs saw their record climb over the break-even mark (7-6) with a convincing 73-47 triumph over the Lady Islanders. Vanessa Luciani had a huge game with 25 points, including three three-point shots, and 10 rebounds. Dranadia Roc also came up big in this playoff spot clinching win for the post-season bound Lady Cheetahs with 22 points. Coach Chantal Vallée's squad closes out the regular portion of their schedule when they host Trois-Rivières this coming Friday, February 28th, at the Vanier College Sports Complex. Game time is 7:00 p.m.

In the nightcap, the Men's AAA Cheetahs avenged an earlier loss to John Abbott with a solid 90-69 road win. The Cheetahs held a 14-point advantage at half-time and extended its lead to 32 points in the second half before recording the 21-point victory. Dwayne Buckley paced Vanier with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Dima Yurchenko put forth a stellar effort with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Damian Buckley with 11 points and 8 assists and Paget Berridge with 10 points also hit double figures in scoring for the visitors. André Johnny and rookie Alexis Him tallied 9 points apiece for Coach Andy Hertzog's Cheetahs, who are now in a first place tie with Montmorency with a 13-2 record. They complete their regular season as the second half of the twinbill this Friday when they take on Champlain-Lennoxville. The tip-off is slated for 9:00 p.m.

Also on Friday, the surging Men's AA Cheetahs added to an already impressive second half with a 79-67 decision over Outaouais in Vanier's last home game of the season. Dany Charlery continued his strong play with 17 points. Victor Paskal and Anthony Blaise both played very well in contributing 14 and 13 points respectively in the win. Ashley Oziegbe and Chris Kanellakos scored 11 points apiece for the 10-6 Cheetahs, who complete their regular season with a pair of road game this coming weekend in Abitibi.
