Jerome Blake from the men's AAA basketball team (seen at right receiving his Athlete of the Year Award from Athletics Coordinator Mireille Béland) will be attending Concordia University in Montreal next year, where he will be playing for the Stingers.
After a stellar 2 seasons on our AA team, where he was the league's leading scorer and a league all-star, Jerome joined our AAA team in January 2010. This past season, in his only full season in the AAA league, he was a 2nd team league all-star, and was 2nd in the entire league in points scored (278), and 4th in scoring average (17.4 points/game) among all league players who played both semesters. He was our team's leading scorer and co-MVP. He was also recently named Vanier’s Male Athlete of the Year.
After an outstanding regular season, Jerome performed even more brilliantly in the post-season, being named MVP at both the Provincial and CCAA National championships. He led us to our 1st Provincial championship since 2005, setting a school record with 41 points in the Provincial final against Ste Foy. He then led us to our first National championship since 1987, scoring a game-high 32 points against Lethbridge College in the gold medal final.
Jerome understandably received interest from schools across Canada, but decided to stay at home and play for the Stingers, hoping to build on their rich history of basketball success and get a great education at Concordia University.
