Jesse Joseph was a dominant fixture for our Football Cheetahs while here at Vanier. At the 2008-2009 Athletic Awards, he won our award for top Defensive Lineman of that year. He was later picked up by the University of Connecticut Huskies where he played along with another Vanier alum, Moe Petrus. He must have made one heck of a good impression at that 2009 training camp, for he went on to have the unique honour of being the first true freshman to start EVERY game for the team since 2004!
In that rookie season, Jesse had 38 tackles including a career-high seven tackles against both North Carolina and USF. He also had five tackles vs. Rutgers and in the Papajohns.com Bowl game vs. South Carolina, where he also forced a fumble. He went from amassing 16 solo, 20 assisted tackles (and 2 sacks) in 2009 to racking up 25 solo, 14 assisted tackles and a whopping 9 sacks in 2010. See his complete 2010 stats.
Jesse was recently the subject of an article about his experiences with the Huskies at the 2011 Fiesta Bowl. You can read the whole story (in French) from the Courrier Laval. |
