The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed slotback and Vanier alum Cory Watson to a contract extension on December 2nd. Cory was a starter with the CFL club last season.
“We are very pleased to lock up this young, solid, Canadian player for the foreseeable future,” vice-president and GM Joe Mack said in a release. "Cory is a big, physical target for us that has come a long way since he joined our club out of the draft in 2010 and we are looking for him to have a breakout season in 2013.”
The six-foot-three, 213-pound Watson, a native of Dollard des Ormeaux, Que., had 35 catches for 344 yards and a touchdown last season, his third with Winnipeg.
The Blue Bombers selected Watson ninth overall in the 2010 CFL draft. In his rookie season he caught 17 passes for 277 yards and 1 TD. In his second season he caught 69 passes for 793 yards. In a game against the Alouettes on July 3rd, Cory caught 6 passes for 114 yards! Read more on the signing.
