Read the game report of the exhibition match against Humber which was provided to us by Div.1 Men’s head coach Andy Hertzog:
Our men’s Division 1 basketball team returned to practice last week after an 8-day holiday. On Saturday, we played an exhibition game against Humber College from Toronto, a perennial powerhouse in the CCAA. They have been ranked as high as 2nd nationally this year, but have dropped down to number 14 after a couple of close losses.
We got off to a good early start, going up 8-2, but Humber came back and took a 13-10 lead. We then took a 17-15 advantage, but Humber went on another run to take a 25-17 lead after the first quarter. We fell behind by 15 points early in the second quarter (34-19), but started to chip away at the deficit, and at halftime Humber led by only 4 points (46-42). The 3rd quarter went back and forth. We took a 54-51 lead, but then Humber went on a run to grab a 61-58 advantage. At the end of the 3rd period we trailed 71-70. Down 80-79 in the 4th, we went on a 7-0 run to take a 6-point lead that we would never relinquish. We opened up an 11-point advantage and finally won 97-87.
We had 6 players score in double figures, led by Khalifa Koulamllah with 23 points, including 6 3-point shots. Quarry Whyne had 12 points, Steeve Joseph and Josh Koulamalah each had 11 points and J.F. Daho and Pier-Olivier Racine each had 10.
Our Division 1 basketball teams start off the second half of our league schedule on Thursday, January 18 at home vs Montmorency. The women’s game is at 6:00 PM and the men’s game follows at 8:00 PM.
