Our three Cheetahs basketball teams played 4 games this weekend, and we ended up winning 3 out of 4.

On Friday evening, our Division 1 teams played an away doubleheader at Ste-Foy near Quebec City.

In the first game, our 3-8 Lady Cheetahs faced the heavily favoured Lady Dynamiques (7-3 record) and they ended up on the short side of a 89-48 final score. In the second match our Div.1 Men’s team came up with a strong effort and emerged with a decisive 86-47 road victory, improving their season record to 9-4.

Then our Div.1 and Div.2 Men’s teams played a home doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. In the first game the Div.1 Men improved to 10-4 on the season after taking another strong decision over Outaouais, this time by the score of 90-66. In the second game, our Div.2 Men played Universel and they also able to please the home crowd with a big home win. The 70-58 victory improved their season record to 8-3.

In upcoming games, on the evening of Friday, February 16th, there will be a Division 1 road doubleheader against our perennial rivals from Dawson College. The Lady Cheetahs start at 7:00 PM and the Div.1 Men follow at 9:00 PM. Then on Sunday, February 18th, our Division 2 Men’s team will play a home game VS Montmorency starting at 1:00 PM.

Our Vanier basketball teams were all in action this weekend, and we fared pretty well overall, winning 3 of our 4 games.

On Friday night. Our Division 1 teams went on the road to take on the Ste-Foy Dynamiques. In the first game, our women got off to a poor start and could never recover. We trailed 22-9 after the first quarter and 39-20 at the half, before eventually losing 89-48. Our leading scorers were Debora Aboagye and Leahana John with 11 points each, and they added 7 and 5 rebounds respectively. Mikitshi Basambombo chipped in with 9 points and 6 boards.

The second game went back and forth for a while, with our hosts leading 20-19 after the first quarter. But, with the game tied at 24 early in the second period, we went on a 12-0 run and never looked back. We led 46-27 at halftime and finally won 86-47. We had 4 players score in double figures. Pier-Olivier Racine and Karim Mané led the way with 14 points each. Pier-Olivier added 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocked shots. Karim had 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. Nginyu Ngala had 12 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Jean-Frédéric Daho scored 10 points. Joshua Koulamallah added 7 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Benji Bercovitch had 9 points.

On Sunday, our men’s team had a home doubleheader against teams from Gatineau. In the first game, our men’s Division 1 team took on Outaouais. We got off to another poor start, trailing 23-17 after the first quarter and leading only 41-38 at the half. But, we started the second half on 1 16-2 run and eventually cruised to a 90-66 victory. Our leading scorer was Jean-Frédéric Daho with 19 points and 6 assists. Pier-Olivier Racine had 17 points, 4 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Nginyu Ngala had 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Haris Elezovic added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. In the second game, the Division 2 Men defeated Universel 70-58. Scoring details are not yet available.

Our Division 1 teams have a road doubleheader this Friday night, February 16 at rival Dawson. The women’s game will tip off at 7:00 PM and the men’s game will follow at 9:00 PM. Our men’s Division 2 team next plays a home game on Sunday, February 18 at 1:00 PM VS Montmorency.
