TEXT OF THE SPEECH GIVEN FOR THIS AWARD

Tonight’s second recipient of the Outstanding Contribution award is also a coach. He originally came to Vanier as a student and it is as if he never left. He completed his internship for his University degree in the department of Athletics as well. He was as a volunteer as the manager of the basketball team for a while but then moved to flag football where he has been the head coach for more than 20 years. He guided the Cheetahs to league championships in 1987 and 1996.

He has been a Vanier employee for all those years and he is also not afraid to volunteer his time such as being the timer at football games. He is well known and appreciated by the students.

He is the walking encyclopedia of Vanier Athletics with an incredible memory for Cheetah facts.

Whenever he will leave, a big piece of Vanier history will go with him.

It is my pleasure to announce the second recipient of the 2009 OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION AWARD… from the Flag Football team, the head coach, Mr. RICK YUEN.
