Congratulations to Men’s Basketball alum Hernst Laroche, who has just signed a one-year contract with the Halifax Hurricanes of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC) for the 2018-2019 season. In the 2017-18 season Hernst played in the Argentinean pro league and also made 5 appearances playing for the Haitian National Team at the FIBA AmeriCup.

The last time we heard about Laroche was when Coach Andy Hertzog reported in 2016 that Hernst was playing in the Hungarian professional league and had been named Player of the Month in that league for the month of January, a tremendous accomplishment.

The photo at left shows him when he was playing in a professional league in Switzerland in 2015.

Hernst had an award-winning career here at Vanier in 2006-07 and 2007-08. In 2007, he was co-winner of the Division 1 Men’s Basketball MVP, an award that he repeated the following year with him as sole winner of that year’s MVP Award.
