PRESS RELEASE
Cheetahs rejoin AAA soccer league after 10 year abscence
May 2, 2007

Vanier College announces that their men's soccer team will play AAA College soccer next season. Vanier enjoys rich soccer ties with the CCAA (Canadian Colleges Athletic Association) having hosted the Nationals in 1987 and also playing in the 94 (Dawson College) and 95 (Medicine Hat College) championships. Coach Jason Bresler is ecstatic about the opportunity for his team to play on the National stage again, having played AAA Soccer for Vanier (he was an All Canadian and named to National Championship All Tournament Team when the team won a bronze medal in 1994).

"We are looking forward to renewing old rivalries in soccer and providing our student athletes with an avenue to test their skills against the best in the country" said Coach Bresler. "At the AA level, where we have been pretty successful, teams can go as far as a provincial championship. We are really happy that our school administration has given us the green light to rejoin the AAA league where the provincial champs get an opportunity to move on to a Canadian Championship."

"The timing of this announcement couldn't be better as our women's basketball team has just won the National title and there is lots of excitement around the school" said Athletic Coordinator Linda Macpherson.

Any current or potential full time Vanier students who would like to try out for the 2007 edition of the Cheetahs should contact Coach Bresler at jsbresler@hotmail.com or cal him at 514-817-1863.
