Slotback Liam Mahoney was honoured as the outstanding player of the 2010 season when the Concordia Stingers gathered at their annual football banquet in Montreal on Saturday night. Mahoney was also Concordia’s offensive MVP. He was the leading receiver on the Stingers with 49 catches for 609 yards and six touchdowns in nine games. Mahoney also scored a rushing touchdown, bringing his total on the year to seven. He was third in the Quebec conference in receiving yards and first in touchdowns scored. Liam was also a Quebec University Football League all-star and a second-team all-Canadian. Having caught the attention of many professional scouts, he will attend the Canadian Football League’s evaluation camp in Toronto in March and is considered a top prospect for the CFL draft in the spring.

Also on the offensive side of the ball, tackle Anthony Barrette (another Vanier alum) was named the outstanding lineman. A second team all-Canadian in 2010, the big man was unable to attend the dinner as he was in Michigan preparing for the CFL evaluation camp and draft. He is No. 13 in the latest draft rankings.

Finally, alum slotback Michael Harrington was named the Sinngers' top rookie on offence. He caught 32 passes for 344 yards and one touchdown in nine games.

Congratulations to you all!
