Jesse Joseph |
Jesse Joseph was a dominant fixture for our Football Cheetahs while here at Vanier. At the 2008-2009 Athletic Awards, he won our award for top Defensive Lineman of that year. He was later picked up by the University of Connecticut Huskies where he played along with another Vanier alum, Moe Petrus. He must have made one heck of a good impression at that 2009 training camp, for he went on to have the unique honour of being the first true freshman to start EVERY game for the team since 2004!
In that rookie season, Jesse had 38 tackles including a career-high seven tackles against both North Carolina and USF. He also had five tackles vs. Rutgers and vs. South Carolina, where he also forced a fumble. He went from amassing 16 solo, 20 assisted tackles (and 2 sacks) in 2009 to racking up 25 solo, 14 assisted tackles and a whopping 9 sacks in 2010. In a game VS North Carolina State on September 8th, 2012, Jesse had 8 tackles (4 solo) and had 1 sack. See his complete 2012 stats.
As of December 2012, Jesse was ranked 8th on the Top-Fifteen CFL Draft list, so we expect to see him in the CFL soon! However, he hasn't given up hope of making it in the NFL as described in this article in the Courrier Laval.
