Semester Breakdown

Semesters 1 to 3

The first three semesters of the program provide the student with a broad knowledge of biological, chemical and computer principles and techniques, and introduce the basics of animal care.

Semesters 3 to 6

The fourth, fifth and sixth semesters are designed to train the students in specialized veterinary and laboratory techniques such as the identification of various tissues in the detection of diseases, pharmacology, nursing and surgical procedures, anaesthesia techniques, nutrition, blood and urine analysis, radiography, breeding, exotic animal care and the care of laboratory animals used for research purposes.

Semesters 6 Internships

The sixth semester is mainly devoted to internships in government and private laboratories and in private clinics, coordinated by the Animal Health faculty. These rotations at various institutions provide the student with on-the-job training, permitting a realistic acquisition of techniques in a variety of situations. Students are expected to cover any increased living expenses related to internships.
