221-470-VA, MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL SERVICES
This course explores heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), electrical and plumbing services including fire protection, automated sprinklers, stand pipes and related controls in institutional and commercial buildings. Students will examine these building services in the context of architectural design intent and the structure of the building. The student will learn how to make some basic calculations used by mechanical designers and to use the design tables and handbooks. Working drawings and specifications, prepared by mechanical and electrical consultants will be studied.
