We do encourage students to self-advocate and to discuss their needs with their instructors, and we will be glad to discuss any concerns you may have about disclosure.
If you disclose:
Any information or documentation given to our office is treated confidentially. We do not pass on any information to other departments or staff members without your written permission. Only limited information is shared and only with those who have a legitimate need to know.
Sometimes students with disabilities do not ask for needed accommodations because they don’t want to be identified as a person with a disability, or they may choose to disclose the disability only to certain staff members.
If you don’t disclose:
If you do not disclose a disability, you may not receive the practical support to which you are entitled.
