The Physical Education Department hopes
to provide you with an enjoyable and worthwhile Physical Education
experience. A wide range of activities will be offered to
you during your years at Vanier - opportunities to develop
a personal fitness program, engage in activities which you
enjoy, and learn new skills which will enrich your leisure
time.
Physical Education classes will normally run two hours a week
for a total of thirty hours each semester. At registration
you will select a Physical Education course from the choice
of options available. There is also a wide range of Intensive
courses offered, most of which take place in an outdoor setting.
The Physical Education courses are part of the core courses
in general education (Block A). The overall theme of the Physical
Education program at the college level is the promotion of
a healthy lifestyle. Specific goals for the program include:
the establishment of the relationship between lifestyle an
health, the exploration of various physical activities based
on needs and interest, and the promotion of positive fitness
and lifestyle decisions.
Students must take three Physical Education courses to graduate.
It is mandatory to complete both a 103 and 104 level course
before registering for a 105 course. |
