Vanier College offers two options within the Business Administration program: Accounting and Business Management (410.B0) and Business Management (Marketing) (410.D0). In the first three semesters, all business students follow the same curriculum. In this part of the program, students develop basic business and computer skills and gain an understanding of the major functional areas in business: accounting, finance, marketing, and human resource management. In semesters four through six, students specialize.

The Accounting and Business Management (410.B0) option is designed to provide students with the training that will enable them to obtain an entry-level management position in such areas as banking, accountancy and office administration. It is a practical program that emphasizes the development of work-place skills. Extensive use of industry standard accounting and general management software, examination of current and “real-life” management issues, and an internship in industry is some of the hands-on methods used in this program. Finance, advanced accounting principals, computerized accounting, auditing, taxation cost accounting, negotiations, entrepreneurship and project management are some of the areas in which Accounting and Business Management graduates develop expertise.

The Business Management (Marketing) (410.D0) option trains students to obtain an entry-level management position in such fields as marketing, sales, retailing and entrepreneurship. It is a practical, skills-based program that emphasizes learning by doing. Off-campus visits, projects in industry, extensive use of business computer software, business case competitions, and an internship in industry are some of the hands-on methods used in the program. Marketing research, consumer behavior, retailing, customer service excellence, sales and sales supervision, e-marketing, negotiations, entrepreneurship, and project management are some of the areas in which Business Management (Marketing) students develop expertise.
